Fatal accident – Pasadena

On April 2, 2022, at 12:46 p.m., Eastern District officers responded to the separation of Route 10 SB and Route 100 EB for an accident involving a motorcycle and passenger vehicle. The investigation revealed that a 2017 Nissan Altima was traveling eastbound on Route 100 as it approached the split between Route 100 and Route 10. The driver of the Nissan moved from the right lane to the left lane, continuing on Route 10 SB. At the same time, a 2020 Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle started to merge to the right, also trying to continue on Route 10 SB. The driver of the Kawasaki slammed into the driver’s side of the Nissan, lost control of the motorcycle and was ejected. The driver of the Kawasaki was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics from the Anne Arundel County Fire Department.

Initially, the primary cause of this accident was an improper lane change by the Kawasaki driver, with speed being a contributing factor. The accident is currently under investigation by the Road Safety Section.
