This decision was taken by deliberation of the Board of Directors on December 21, 2021, after having notified the European Central Bank, which did not oppose the Banco de Portugal’s proposal, and after consulting the National Council of Supervisory Authorities. financial.

The counter-cyclical buffer rate applies to all credit risk exposures when the counterparty is the national non-financial private sector of credit institutions and investment firms in Portugal subject to the supervision of the Banco de Portugal or the Bank Central European Union (single supervisory mechanism), and is reviewed quarterly.
