What’s happening this weekend at the Phillies-Angels Series, June 4-5

It’s going to be a busy weekend at Citizens Bank Park as the Phillies take on the Los Angeles Angels for the final two homestand games from Saturday, June 4 through Sunday, June 5. Here is an overview of all the promotions and fun around the series, as well as other information needed to come to the ballpark.

· The Five Most Improved Readers and The Five Most Outstanding Readers in this popular program which reaches 64,000 students will be recognized on the field during a pre-game ceremony. The list of winners of Phanatic About Reading 2022 is available here.

A book drive to benefit Tree House Books will be held at the gates of first base, third base and left field. Fans are encouraged to donate new and gently used children’s and teen books. Classic titles, book series and books by colored authors are appreciated. A community and literacy center in North Central Philadelphia, Tree House Books annually distributes more than 80,000 books to families to create home libraries.

Also happening the Saturday Block Party pre-game party brought to you by Anheuser-Busch at Third Base Plaza with entertainment from DJ HBK.

1. On Sunday, June 5, Pro Football Hall of Fame sportswriter Ray Didinger, who recently announced his retirement after 53 years covering Philadelphia sports, will have the honor of making a ceremonial first pitch. The longtime SportsRadio 94WIP host and NBC Sports Philadelphia analyst will take the field before the 1:35 p.m. game.
